about

This first EP in a three part series outlines the sound of Hyper Battle by telling an instrumental story, epic in proportion, and populated with live electronic textures, steeped in stadium power chords and languid melodies that score the landscape of an apocalyptic future.
The set starts with 'Forest' which has our heroes, Cylo Hyper and Juneau, walking the ruins of Earth, the year 2082, as melancholic guitar plays Western themes. '11:11' has the bounce of an alarm clock with drum machines and acoustic guitars setting the backdrop for raga-ish leads. The pulse of the set is felt in 'Ticking of the Clock' which features the longest guitar solo on the EP with plenty of twists and turns. 'Underwater Miami' imagines a club atmosphere in our dystopian future where Cylo and June get to experience at least a respite of bliss. The set concludes with 'Enlightenment' which has serious "post-rock" vibes and builds to an ominous end to Act 1.
Stay tuned for the next two EPs which continue the story of Cylo Hyper and his search through space and time for extinguished light.

"The sun was coming down as the temperature dropped by a few degrees. It was not cold enough to warrant building a fire, but Cylo needed to cook dinner for June and him. Cylo took two rainbow trout from the cooler and tossed them into their skillet over the fire. Cylo and June gazed at the stars as the darkness creeped in and allowed the night sky to illuminate. Cylo sat in his camping chair with June on his lap as they stared into the sky. It was getting late. Cylo and June had dozed off as the fire turned to embers. Suddenly they were awoken by a loud beeping sound. It was the Wrister, and it was coming from inside the RV. Cylo ran inside and grabbed it. It was flashing “11:11.” Cylo knew what this meant; it was a message from Jarvys. They had to leave now. As Cylo fired up the engine, the Wrister turned red and a countdown clock appeared. They had 12 hours. Cylo took the RV down the windy road while June navigated by using their road map. The map was more than 60 years old; they weren’t sure if these roads were still there or lost to the coastal floods. They had no choice but to try. The map had taken them to an old highway that was littered with abandoned cars. Cylo weaved around and avoided the obstacles which was made more difficult by the darkness of the night and low visibility. Suddenly, he slammed on the brakes. He couldn’t go any farther. There were two semis blocking the entire path. Cylo knew better than to investigate; it was not safe to be vulnerable in the night. As Cylo put the RV in reverse, a small mob began to approach the camper. They pulled at the door and slammed on the windows. June screamed at them to get away as Cylo drove the RV over the median into the opposite lanes of the road. Cylo slammed on the gas as the sounds of bullets hitting the RV screamed in the background. They barely made it out in time. Cylo and June were shaken as they continued to make their way out of North Carolina."
