Slanigiro Renguez’s Squeeze and Release is an imaginarium forged by a daredevil songster. Completely written, performed, recorded, and engineered by one searching soul—Steve Zeugner (aka Slanigiro Renguez)—it is a bird’s-eye view of one man’s entry into adulthood.
Filled with discoveries and auditory treats around each track, the layers of sound textures; the soothing, haunting, and catchy melodies; the poetic delivery and depth of lyrics; and the constant groove reveal the subtle craftwork of 4 years work in the making of this multi-faceted project.
These songs are the stars in a constellation of musical variety, as a single, flashing mind brings the stories of a soldier’s path, the “first bird,” identity, mountain-biking, adulthood, and vampire fantasies to vibrant, wonder-inducing life. The album Squeeze and Release is a lost species and an antidote to apathy.
